Customer projects. Tractor pulley standoff
Project type
Standoff pulley
Date

Location
In our workshop in Lowestoft
Customer came in with an interesting project to make a tractor pulley stand off as wear and tear on an offset belt meant constant repairs and down time. We had a discussion about the project and the best filament to use for such a heavy duty piece. In the end we decided to use POLYCARBONATE as this suited the application best sue to its high strength, impact and temperature resistance. The customer gave a simple sketch with dimensions required and supplied the pully to check against. I first made a lightweight prototype in PLA to check for fitment this weighed 24g, after I was happy with the test piece I proceeded to print the actual item which weighed in at over 100g. The customer picked it up and was very happy with the finished product. I hope this project shows how versatile 3d printing has become with the new range of filaments available.
Update (July 2025): I recently saw the customer and asked how his print was working out for him. His response was brilliant, he has managed to do 1 acre a week since fitting which is 20 acres tod date. There has been no signs of wear or tear to the part and even better he has not had to replace a single belt since fitting.
