Deliverable
Replacement brackets
The customer had an old metal bracket used for mounting frames inside a display cabinet but was unable to source new brackets as these were bespoke pieces from many years ago. They asked us if we could recreate the part but also make an adjustment to the length of the arms which hold the frame.
After several measurements a simple model was created copying the original, quick test print was done to check for shape and size accuracies.
Then thicknesses were adjusted to allow for the part being plastic and not metal so that it would be able to match the strength. And it was decided that PA6-GF (Glass fiber reinforced Nylon) would be used as this would be the strongest filament available for the the part along with the nice finish that comes with this filament.
Holes were then adjusted so that a heated inserted could be fitted and a M3 Bolt can pass through to be able to clamp down on the frame providing a small amount of grip.
